81
My father became 81 this weekend and we had a entertaining weekend with family and friends. This week I have many important meetings before going to Karlsruhe in Germany next week to be at the Learntec 2009. For the company the German market is very important and we will be showing our products and services.

Impressed
Not so much by Obama’s speech (not extremely special, or am I already used to his charisma?), and actual inauguration itself (he seemed to be a real person, nervous), but mainly about the huge crowd and scenery, very impressive ....

Together we are one ...
That was clear, the Inaugural Celebration show for Barack Obama at the Lincoln Memorial with just the right mix of black and white people and speeches about some very important decisions and people from the past.
I am a bit biased but think it showed what America is and hopefully will be in the near future, despite many problems and omissions they still have, a true democracy.

Almost over
It was like this in the weekend, several 100.000 people skating on the frozen lakes and rivers.

G5
No money for a new one, so bought me a fine running Powermac G5 desktop this weekend. My Mac Mini is still good but I need more space and speed. The G5 Dual Pocessor, 2 Ghz, is having two harddisks, total 400 Gb and 4 Gb of memory, great to use for some years.

One step further, within a week I will know if I am going to go on, but next steps have been taken to build a detached house in Almere.

New Years Eve
After seeing Amalia the movie about Amalia Rodrigues, the famous Portuguese Fado singer, we slowly started to party again. The evening started at 20.00 when most guests arrived. The first toast was at 23.00 as at that time the new year in the Netherlands started. At 24.00 we viewed the spectacular fireworks in Oporto, from the balcony at the 8th floor, giving a very nice view. The evening ended at 2.30. Great party and experiencing the great warmth of my Poruguese friends and the famliy again.
This morning already arranging the table for the lunch again, so eating and drinking a lot :-).
