Mixed feelings weekend

Nice dinner and Gala at Saturday, lost game at Sunday.

The Saturday evening started out with a very nice dinner. We were with 3 veterans teams, A, B and C. Around 50 people in total, all dressed up to go the Gala afterwards. The Gala itself was in a very nice venue, especially the quality of sound was terrible, still feel my ears. It was less interesting compared to earlier Gala's. There were less people, and lot's of older member were no there this time, a real pity.

The Day After was starting with a game to Xenios, a team like a "angst gegner", we many times lost. Again Sunday, we lost 4-3, not good at all. Next week to our brothers of B and that is the last game for the winter stop.

Busy weeks to come

This week some interesting parties, Saturday the Pinoke Gala. Next week I will be in Berlin again for Online Educa, where we have a booth with one of our partners for their product SharePointLMS. With Christmas I am at home with my family and for New Year's Eve I am traveling for the first time to Rome. Returning beginning of January to hopefully start a better year.

Lost twice

Some weekends are not so good ... I played two games, one in the morning with my own team, 2-1 loss, one in the afternoon with the Veterans B team and that one was lost with 3-1. For the last team it was worse as it playing against another team very low in the standings.

Update on Hockey

The season is now on for a few weeks and were are doing OK. We lost one big ... from a new team in our league and we had one draw. The other 3 matches we won, resulting in the second place in the standings for now. That is again not bad for the "oldies". We are much older than most of the other team we're playing, close to 50 we are, the others mainly 40+.

Yep, won again

Today we played a veterans hockey tournament again, now in Oosterbeek in the east of the Netherlands. And believe it or not we won again, we tend to win all tournaments though :-).

Monday, 24 August 2009

With another team we lost this tournament in Mechelen, Belgium, once, we now won. Only 3 matches in a very high temperature 25-28 degrees Celsius, and some drinks in between, made us unbeatable :-).

Hockey Tournament

Today to Belgium, Mechelen, to play a one day Veterans Hockey Tournament. We will stay for the night though to "party" in Mechelen itself. Mechelen is a very nice town with lots of bars and restaurants.

Mechelen (Dutch, pronounced [ˈmɛçələ(n)] (help·info); Malines in French, Mechlin in English) is a Dutch-speaking city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium. The municipality comprises the city of Mechelen proper, some quarters at its outskirts, the hamlets of Nekkerspoel (adjacent) and Battel (a few kilometers away), as well as the villages of Walem, Heffen, Leest, Hombeek, and Muizen. The Dijle flows through the city, hence the term 'Dijlestad' (City by the Dijle).

Mechelen lies on the major urban and industrial axis Brussels-Antwerp, about 25 km from each city. Inhabitants find employment at Mechelen's southern industrial and northern office estates, as well as at offices or industry near the capital, or at industrial plants near Antwerp's seaport.

Hm ..

The ladies did a good job, winning the second game 2-0 yesterday, thus playing the highest league again next season.

Today the man did a very bad job, after a 2-2 in overtime they lost by 7-meters. Sunday the third and last match in Rotterdam again.

Mission accomplished ....

Meaning we won from our younger brothers. Yesterdaythe match between them ... veterans B and us ... veterans C resulted in4-2 for us. All the time we were much better, although we are mucholder. As we won, they can not be champion any more, so every upsidehas also a downside :-(.

Zilverlingen

We had a very nice gathering with the "Zilverlingen"at my hockeyclub "Pinoke". You become a "Zilverling" when being amember for 25 years. I am now almost 27 but there are people with over50 years of membership. 3 new people were inaugurated and got their"beerpull with inscription".

Last standing

We played our last game, will continue in March 2009. We are doing rather well, almost the same amount of points as we had last year all season, now half-way.

Hockey update

The first few games we played ok, but did not win. For the last 3 games we even played better, but it was against the the top 2, lost 2-3 and had a draw against our younger brothers, that is we are around 50, they around 40 :-).

Yesterday we played our neighbours for Amsterdam and we won rather easily 5-1. This results and the others but also our next opponents will give us a good standing.

Starting hockey competition

Yesterday the competition started again. It's about field hockey (at Pinoke) big in the Netherlands. We have a completely different team from last year, seems to be stronger. We lost the first match though (not all players were present) against one stronger and younger teams, VVV, 2-4.

Hockey

Today the new field hockey season will start. We got some new "old" players and will start with a total of 18. As in football you need 11 to play and last year we have often difficulties to get to 11. Now with some new players we thought it would not be a problem, but beginning today we again have only + one substitute, not a lot for almost Abraham's :-).

We'll see, today against one of the favorites .....
