From CrunchGear: Wall Street Journal Reports Cingular Scores iPhone Tomorrow

For the sake of Mars! Here it is just one day — one day — away from the MacWorld keynote, and the WSJ drops one last iPhone iChat Mobile rumor, though this is one we’ve heard before: the device will launch with Cingular.

Now, we think Cingular has launched its wad with its new Treo 750, and that this is bullcrap. But it is the WSJ, and we’re not one to argue with anyone who features people as stipple drawings, so we’ll open another beer.

From MacRumors: Jobs Excited about Device, Keynote?

In the continuing build up of hype leading to the Macworld SF 2007 keynote, Cult of Mac blog posts this anonymous tidbit:

...a very trusted (and extremely anonymous) source of mine in Silicon Valley told me recently that he has it on good faith that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has invited all of his best friends to his MacWorld SF Keynote on Tuesday. In Silicon Valley buzz code, that means he's got something really special to show.

Meanwhile, International Herald Tribute's article about Apple's upcoming device claims that "[Jobs] was more excited about his current project than he was about the Macintosh."
Steve Jobs was previously reported to have been very excited about the Apple Phone and uncharacteristically vocal about it to his inner circle.
In the hours/days before the Macworld Expo, an acceleration of rumors and hype is common. Readers should temper their excitement with some realism to prevent being disappointed by the event. Despite the almost ubiquitous expectation for an Apple Phone at Macworld, our roundup revealed most sources pointed to a release in the 1st half of 2007.

From Apple Insider: Amazon's witty discretion on iWork '07 and iLife '07

Online retailer Amazon.com is no longer listing Apple Computer's forthcoming iLife and iWork software suite upgrades on its website by name, but has alternatively drawn a chuckle or two.

The largest internet retailer on Wednesday turned up listings for four yet-to-be-announced Apple software products. Those products were iLife '07 and iWork '07, each of which was available in two versions -- a "Single User License" or a "Family Pack."

Apple, which attempts to keep a tight lid on even the most blatant of matters, appears to have disapproved.

As of Thursday evening, Amazon, rather amusingly, had renamed the four software listings to: Apple MacWorld 2007 Announcement #1, Apple MacWorld 2007 Announcement #2, Apple MacWorld 2007 Announcement #3, and Apple MacWorld 2007 Announcement #4.

Since introducing iLife at Macworld in 2003, Apple has used each consecutive Macworld to introduce new versions of the digital lifestyle suite, which includes iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand and iWeb applications.

In 2005, Apple unveiled iWork, a similar suite of software that includes productivity applications Pages and Keynote.

Next week's Macworld Expo is expected to play out no differently, producing updates to both iLife and iWork while possibly tossing a new spreadsheet application into the latter as well.
